After doing traditional hair styling for many years, Karen Flowers embraced the beauty and freedom of her own natural hair, a transformational experience that led her to help other women do the same. Karen is passionate about helping women transition to and maintain their natural hair, as well as educating on the deeper, emotional issues often connected to natural hair acceptance. With hair loss being such a prevalent issue, she created the Curl House Hair Restoration Collection product line, to promote hair growth, and raises awareness about the importance of holistic hair and scalp health. 

Karen is a licensed Cosmetologist and certified Trichologist (WTS) with over 15 years of experience in the beauty and hair industry. She is the author of: “Yes You Can: A Quick and Easy Guide to Natural Hair Care”, and “A Black Woman’s Guide to Thicker, Healthier Hair”.

Karen has been the natural hair care expert for WTVR’s CBS News reports, as well as for their This Morning Virginia segments on “The Science behind Healthy Hair,” and others. She has been a featured presenter at natural hair workshops across the country, including Taliah Waajid’s World Natural Hair and Beauty Show in Atlanta, Georgia.

Karen earned a dual Master’s in Social Work and Urban Studies, from Michigan State University and a BS from Norfolk State University. She lives in Richmond, VA with her husband, loves to travel, and attributes her success to her strong faith in the Lord.
